Three things I liked about last week

  • The anticipation of seeing new books in August and the excitement from breathing in their scent that sets your mood on new adventures and learning, helped me through the process of allocating money for them for next year.
  • Ilana's Book Club with Brownies gathered its members around Into This Air by Jon Krakauer. It was a special time to share our personal reactions to Jon Krakauer's detailed description of the disastrous ascend and descend of the Mount Everest.
  • For the first time at WBAIS, we celebrated our multicultural community and its linguistic  diversity. Students decorated posters with words in their native languages. 35 languages that our students speak at home are: Afrikans, Arabic, Bulgarian, Chinese, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Farsi, Finnish, French, German, Gujarati, Guarani, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Malayalam, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Tamil, Telugu,Thai, Turkish and Ukrainian.
We are going to use these colorful posters during Library Tech Week  that starts next week. Students will continue practice their mother tongue languages in Language Diversity Booth.
