eBooks and Kindle in the library

I was looking for a book for my granddaughter and encounted The Old Woman Who Loved to Read by John Winch. "This one would be lovely!" - I thought and started browsing the book when it dawned on me: "Now it would have never happened!"

The idea of carying stacks of books and not being able to read or listen to a book while accomplishing errands sounds old-fashioned.

We can take piles of books in an eBook format and listen to any content as audio files while being busy with housework or covering our daily walking distance.

A Booklist Blog Audiobooker by Mary Burkey raises a question of future formats books whould come out. Mary writes, "Thomas Nelson ,publishing realizes that we want to buy the story - the content - and we want to carry that story with us in whatever contain fits the moment in time: audio MP3 in the car, Mobipocket on our eBook reader, print title in the bathtub."

I don't know about having a print title in the bathtub... but Kindle - a reading device that can store thousands of books and read books back to the reader - may work for you. Kindle has an option to change the size of the font (6 sizes), it has built-in speakers so that the reader can listen to MP3 audiobooks. We can look up for a word from the text in a dictionary or browse the web and wikipedia.

The library's just got our own Kindle. Hurry up to see it in action and suggest titles to purchase!
